During the second quarter of the New York Jets’ lopsided victory over the New England Patriots on Thursday night, Aaron Rodgers and Robert Saleh grabbed the attention of social media.
The Jets were up 14-0 thanks to a score by Breece Hall, and cameras saw Rodgers approaching his coach on the bench. When Saleh seemed to be reaching for an embrace, Rodgers threw up his hands, seemed to say something to him, then just stared at him and turned to go.
At MetLife Stadium, Saleh told reporters, “Getting the defense a two-score lead is just one of the things that we’ve been talking about.” And the lead was two points. I assume that’s all he was hoping to see was some defense. We currently lead by two scores, as he just reminded me.
In his postgame news conference, Rodgers also discussed the “two-score lead” and shared his thoughts on the situation.
It wasn’t at all uncomfortable. Typically, he is not a big hugger. Thus, I was unaware that he was aiming for a hug,” the quarterback remarked. He also enjoys performing the two-hand chest push. However, he frequently discusses two-score leads. I told him, “two-score lead,” and kind of shoved him.
In Aaron Rodgers’ first game back at MetLife since injuring his Achilles in Week 1 of the previous season, the Jets easily defeated the Patriots, 24-3. On the pitch, the 40-year-old made an impression and appeared more at ease than he had all season. In Week 3, he completed 27 of 35 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns.
