Lewis Hamilton warned Mercedes that he might not make Q3 in qualifying at the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix on September 21 after a difficult Free Practice 1 and 2 at the Marina Bay Circuit, where he struggled to characterize his car.

It’s been two weekends in a row that the seven-time world champion has lost touch with his car, which just lacks the ability to bend into corners and the rear end the 39-year-old seeks.

As a result, he found himself wallowing 12th in FP1 and 11th in FP2, and an unsettling one second off the pace established by Lando Norris on Friday, leaving the guy with 349 Grand Prix starts perplexed.

“I mean this car, it feels…,” Hamilton told F1 TV at the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix, warning Mercedes. “This is an extremely difficult day.

“We tried everything setup-wise, but nothing appears to work. So, it’s obviously difficult, and we’re already giving it our all, only to find out we’re off by a second.

“Ultimately, I think [we’re] just a little bit lost at the moment, and we’re not sure where to park the car.” At the moment, we will not be entering Q3.

The situation was so terrible for the 105-time GP champion that he had the chief technician directing alterations to the rear end of the car, as they adjusted the torsion bar.
