Regarding injuries, the San Francisco 49ers have some encouraging news at last.

They used tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Deebo Samuel, two of their All-Pro offensive studs, in Thursday’s practice. Kittle was restricted on Wednesday, and Samuel was absent from practice.

Kittle and Samuel were both sidelined for the Los Angeles Rams game in Week 3. Kittle sustained a hamstring strain, and Samuel’s ailment concerned his calf.

Standing in for Samuel, Niners wide receiver Jauan Jennings had the best game of his career, totaling 175 yards and three touchdowns. Kittle was replaced at tight end by Eric Saubert, who finished with two catches for 41 yards.

With the two playmakers sidelined, the Niners’ season record dropped to 1-2. If both can play against the New England Patriots in Week 4, that would be a significant boost.

More San Francisco 49ers injuries.

Both rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall and running back Christian McCaffrey are still out for the Niners. Recently, McCaffrey traveled to Germany to consult with a physician for his Achilles tendonitis. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the All-Pro back might be out for a few months.

After being shot during an attempted robbery before to the season, Pearsall is currently healing.

On injured reserve are both of them. Week 6 is when McCaffrey can return, while Week 5 is when Pearsall can return. When will they both get back together is still to be seen.

With Brandon Aiyuk’s delayed season debut, quarterback Brock Purdy, who was experiencing back pain after Sunday’s game, may need to employ all of his offensive weapons sooner rather than later. Even with his lucrative contract signed, Aiyuk has only managed 119 receiving yards and zero touchdowns.

If the squad wants to get back on track, Aiyuk has to give them much more.

The Niners are 10-point favorites when they play the 1-2 Patriots at home on Sunday.
