The visiting Villans were in command for extended periods of time, especially in the first half, and despite falling down, they rallied to take a 2-1 lead at the break.

After 72 minutes, Emi Martínez was not really in danger in the second half, and Liam Delap tied the score with his second of the match.

Emery stated, “I think the outcome was fair, but I am not happy.”

“We had total control over the first half and were able to recover the outcome, which was outstanding. We gradually stopped being able to dominate the game in the second half.

“It was crucial whether we were going to score the third goal. There were a few shifts that were essentially obvious in order to accomplish something better or more.

“We are in the process, but we didn’t do anything. Seven more teams compete to be in the process, which is what it entails. We scored 13 points, which I believe is incredibly amazing, but we want to keep improving as a team and raising our bar so that we can perform even better than we now do.

“The Premier League today serves as an illustration of how tough it is to win games away, especially against teams that were promoted this season.

They are playing with confidence, feeling at ease with their fans, and they are excited. In my opinion, in a match like that, where we dominated the first half and won 2-1, we need to strengthen the second half, figure out how to maintain our consistency from the first half, and make tactical adjustments in order to win.

“I have to concede that the outcome is just. We are grateful to our supporters who were present.

With this, Emery can start getting his team ready for Wednesday’s Champions League matchup with Bayern Munich.

When Villa plays the German powerhouses at Villa Park, they’ll be hoping to build on their victory over Young Boys on matchday one.

“It’s an exciting and very motivating moment for the supporters, for the club, and for everybody,” Emery remarked.

“We have to compete, get ready for the game, and try to get our best performance when we play teams like Bayern Munich in the Champions League.”

“This is the next task we have.”
