The emotional pain that followed his team’s 7-1 thumping by Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night has been disclosed by Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Bundesliga’s top teams put on a display at Signal Iduna Park against the Hoops in the UEFA Champions League.

Rodgers’ team had a humiliating evening as they were unable to match the strength, speed, and skill of an unforgiving Dortmund squad.

In his four seasons leading Celtic, manager Aaron Rodgers has let up six goals or more in a single Champions League match on Tuesday.

When playing against top European teams, he is not willing to modify his high-pressing, offensive style of play. One can’t help but feel that he must, or else these persistent scoldings will become the norm.

The manager claims that they emotionally harm the players and disappoint the fans.

Speaking yesterday at Lennoxtown, Aaron Rodgers discussed the team’s mindset after their defeat in Germany.

“After it, there was disappointment,” he remarked (Celtic FC on YouTube).

It’s always tough and emotionally taxing.

You have that day to mourn, which is never pleasant, but always remember that obstacles like that present a wonderful chance to develop and overcome—even to reach a new height in the game.”

When Celtics play Atalanta in a few weeks, they want to show progress or, at the at least, avoid another crushing.

The Europa League champions from the previous campaign will put Rodgers and company to the test once more.

In Bergamo, the Hoops must rally to prevent a repeat of Tuesday’s terrifying display.

It will be difficult to bring home any points from Italy, but even a winnable performance will be viewed as a win.
