Striker Evan Ferguson of Brighton & Hove Albion has declared his affection for Celtic, acknowledging that he had several trials with the Bhoys in his youth.

More than a year ago, the Irishman made his debut in the English Premier League, netting multiple goals for the high-flying Seagulls.

Despite Ferguson’s recent collapse in form, he is still only 19 years old.

Recently, someone asked him who his boyhood club was and who his idol was.

Ferguson (OpenGoalSport on TikTok) joked, “Celtic.”

“I’m going to say Liam Scales [is my hero] right now.”

Ferguson frequently plays for Ireland alongside Adam Idah, a striker for Celtic, and Scales.

Although Ferguson had several trials with the club when he was younger, the Scottish Premiership champions have never made a move for the high-potential young player.

Is there any evidence that the Bhoys attempted to sign the teenager?

He responded, “No, I don’t think so.”

“I experienced some hardships when I was younger.”

Ferguson’s skill is undeniable, even though he hasn’t been playing well lately—at just 19, he has scored 12 goals in the English Premier League.

It is reasonable to infer that his Celtic trial occurred prior to his relocation to Brighton from Bohemians in his native country when he was just 16 years old.

Although it would have been interesting to see Ferguson with the Hoops, a move to his boyhood club is unlikely to happen given his current net worth of over £35 million (Transfermarkt).
