The saga of Jhon Duran will go down in history as one of the most memorable and frustrating transfer stories of all time – but it’s finally over.

West Ham were said to be extremely close to agreeing a fee with Aston Villa, yet they weren’t willing to match their demands.

Not only did Duran go on to score the winner against the Hammers on the opening day of the season, after throwing up the crossed Irons on an Instagram live just weeks before, but he’s actually gone on to show he’s worth way more than the £50 million his club were said to want for him.

Despite practically begging for a move away all Summer, the striker has now signed a new contract with the Midlands club, extending his stay to 2030.

Although he’s undoubtedly a quality player who walks into the Irons’ starting XI, they may have dodged a bit of a bullet. Just last week, after scoring the winner in the Champions League, he openly said that he would like to play for Bayern Munich.

Based on what everyone’s said about him, he’s the sort of player who upsets a dressing room. He’s a joy to watch and it’s a shame we can’t have the level of player leading the line at West Ham, but the likelihood is that he would have just forced a move away from East London sooner rather than later.
