The former manager of Genk, Club Brugge, and AS Monaco is a year into his tenure at Rangers and has had a mixed year in command of the struggling Ibrox club.

While Philippe Clement has won the League Cup, the Belgian manager has yet to win an Old Firm game in five attempts, and the jury is still out on whether he is the right man to bring the constant success that frustrated fans demand.

However, after being connected with the vacant role at Anderlecht in September, it appears that the Pro League side has moved on after Clement committed to the job at Rangers.

Anderlecht is reportedly in talks with a new manager, Philippe Clement, following the sacking of Brian Riemer.

Clement, in particular, has been highlighted as a potential alternative by former Anderlecht player Nordin Jbari, as well as Mark van Bommel.

“The future coach must have charisma and play well,” according to Jbari. “Philippe Clement, even if he is taken (is an excellent example).

“He prefers to play forward and is modern. He would be interesting, even if he had visited Brugge.”

However, neither the current Rangers manager nor the iconic ex-Dutch midfielder Van Bommel appear to be in line to take over as manager of Belgium’s most successful football team.

The Athletic reports that Tottenham Hotspur assistant Ryan Mason is in ‘talks’ with Anderlecht about becoming the Pro League club’s new manager.

The 33-year-old is a promising young coach who been working at Spurs ever since having to take early retirement from playing due to injuries in 2018.

Mason, who has twice taken over as interim manager of Tottenham Hotspur when Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte left, could be ready to land his first top post in sport.
