Harry Maguire, a central defender for Manchester United, revealed earlier this week the reasons behind his decision to stay with the team this summer. While representing England abroad, Maguire claimed that United and West Ham’s transfer negotiations never progressed to an agreement. Maybe that will alter during the transfer window in January.

ESPN FC reports that the east London club is “considering a fresh approach for Harry Maguire in January should his lack of game-time continue” and that the Hammers will be back in the race for Slab Head.

His lack of playing time should continue, as he is one of United’s worst busts of the last ten years. The troubled center back has essentially evolved into the team’s replacement for Phil Jones because Erik ten Hag simply doesn’t like him. Maguire has also stated this week that he wants to play rather than just sit on the bench.

While at Three Lions camp, he told the reporters, “I am not going to stay here all my life and play once a month. If that continues, I’m sure myself and the club will get down and talk about things.

All parties concerned would benefit most from moving on. United won’t stop him from leaving, and the player is reportedly admired by David Moyes, the current West Ham manager and former United manager.

Additionally, they will need a replacement for Kurt Zouma because, according to the ESPN source, he might be planning to depart for Saudi Arabia in January.
