Daniel Farke has shared an injury update on star winger Largie Ramazani ahead of Leeds United’s trip to Swansea City.
The Whites make their return to Championship action following the international break, which has handed Ramazani a clear couple of weeks to step up his recovery.
Ramazani suffered ankle ligament damage in Leeds’ 2-1 win over Watford last month just as he had really started to hit the ground running at Elland Road, with three goals in six starts.
Farke set Ramazani’s initial timeline for recovery at four to six weeks and the majority of that has now been completed ahead of a busy winter period.
Leeds’ attack hasn’t quite had the same flair to it during his absence, failing to score in two of the four matches he has missed.
Farke shares injury update on Ramazani ahead of Leeds vs Swansea
Farke is pretty well-stocked for wide options even without Ramazani but supporters have been eagerly anticipating his return from the moment he limped off against Watford.
Manor Solomon has really struggled for form since his own return from injury, while Dan James has been slightly better without being near his best.
Ramazani’s recovery was one of the key topics put to Farke in his pre-match press conference this afternoon, with this the first time he has spoken publicly since the win over QPR.
And Farke had some very good news to bring on Ramazani’s recovery, suggesting he could even be back as early as this weekend.
He said: “Largie joined us for the first time in parts of team training this week. Yes obviously the next week, three games in six days, will come a bit too soon to be available for the starting line-up.
“But he could become a topic for some shorter appearances. We have to keep in mind he has been out for I think six weeks and just parts of team training so far. He could become a topic for the upcoming three games, potential for Sunday we will decide after the last training session tomorrow. Definitely an option for the bench.”
Farke should choose Dan James over Manor Solomon for Leeds
While it is good news to hear Ramazani looks set to be back in the squad, this weekend is quite clearly going to come too soon for him to start.
It certainly leaves Farke with a decision to make out wide. Solomon got the nod last time out, but didn’t really pull up any trees.
James was also equally as poor in the game before at Millwall, but has shown more in the time he has had on the pitch since both returned at the same time.
With James also coming up against his former club in Swansea, it feels like the right game to stick him back in the XI.
