A club legend provided a glowing recommendation for Blackpool’s newest player.

Stephen Dobbie, a legendary Blackpool player, expressed his happiness upon Will Squires’ senior debut.

Squires had been on loan with non-league team Bamber Bridge for the previous month or so. The 19-year-old returned to Bloomfield Road with a good recommendation after having a positive time trying men’s football.

On October 7, he was called up, and on last Tuesday, he made his Tangerines debut. Squires started at center defense for Blackpool in their 5-2 EFL Trophy victory over Liverpool.

Dobbie, the manager of the under-21 team and a club veteran, was one individual who was pleased to see Squire named on the team. The Scotsman thinks there is now a pathway from the academy to the first team after contributing to the development of Squires for first-team football. “It was great for him,” Dobbie stated on the club’s official website. Will is a player who you never have to beg for anything from while I’ve been in the building.

He always helps you with the gear if he sees you in the morning. But on the practice field, it is what he does. “He is constantly focused and gives everything he does his all every day, no matter what. “I mean, he’d give it his all if you asked him to run 20 laps around the field. That is the type of young man he is.

Squires’ appearance against Liverpool marked just his second time participating in a senior matchday squad after going unused against Nottingham Forest earlier in the year.

The club extended the 19-year-old’s professional contract earlier this summer after they exercised a one-year option on his May 2022 contract.

He was a member of the young Tangerines team that barely lost 3-2 to Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup quarterfinals during his time with the club. He also won the Lancashire FA-Pro Youth Cup during that period. Dobbie continued, “Obviously he’s been in the academy since he was nine, so to see somebody make their debut who has worked so hard his whole life so far was great and to be a little part of that was really pleasing.”

“I believe that the key is to recognize that there is a road there. should put them on the field so the spectators may see what the young guys are capable of.
