Before heading to Instagram after his team’s victory over Hibs, Philippe Clement states he’s “not happy” with the physicality of his team.

The manager of the Gers has previously stated that if the Ibrox team is to succeed, they must increase both their physical strength and performance.

Borna Barisic’s substitution off the field just ten minutes into the team’s eventual 4-0 victory over Hibs validated the predictions made by the new Rangers manager. After the game, Philippe Clement reiterated the need to strengthen the team physically and expressed his displeasure at having to substitute the Rangers defense. “We’ll examine how each person enters and exits the game tomorrow morning,” Clement stated. “After ten minutes, I was not pleased that I already had to switch the team. “With Borna Barisic’s departure, things are as they are. We’ll see how it goes over the course of the next few days. We’ll see how Scott Wright is as well, as he was unable to play the whole ninety minutes. “I’m glad Danilo and Todd Cantwell could both come in and receive minutes to improve their performance. “Giving young Ross McCausland experience in these kinds of games at Ibrox was also beneficial. We need to build physically, so we’ll see how everyone feels after this game. I’ve seen Sparta Prague’s two European matches, and they are a tremendously talented team. We will have to be alert to beat them.

Philippe Clement praises the “first step” on Instagram.
The Croatian international Barisic, whose past 18 months with Rangers were significantly impacted by a string of serious issues, joins a long list of injuries at Ibrox. While it may just be a factual remark, Philippe Clement has already pushed his players to raise their physical game, so it’s also a subliminal jab at the past campaigns’ failings. Rangers haven’t had an elite level of fitness since Steven Gerrard’s time at the club, and Philippe Clement is obviously determined to restore those levels. Following the Rangers victory over Hibs, the manager of the team took to Instagram to send a message to his players and supporters.

Philippe Clement, who shared pictures after the win on Instagram, began the post with the words “first step made” in what Rangers supporters believe will be a very fruitful trip.

The Rangers manager appears to have had an instant impact with a convincing victory over Hibs at Ibrox, and supporters will be keen to see how the squad builds on it.

Philippe Clement intends to make a number of significant changes at Rangers, and his Instagram post offers a little insight into how he plans to handle those expectations.

The manager is clearly frustrated with our physicality and fitness, but this is just the beginning for the Belgian coach, and it seems like the best is yet to come.
