DEAL CONFIRMED: Daniel Farke, The Whites have found a striker to rival Dominic Lewin Calvert next season

Dominic Lewin Calvert-has been a revelation since joining Leeds United, and the Englishman could have competition next season. Calvert-Lewin was snapped up on a free transfer following his release from Everton last summer, and there were initial concerns over the signing.

The Englishman was injury-prone during his time at Goodison Park and often lacked a cutting edge in front of goal, something he’s put behind him at Elland Road.

The 29-year-old is on Thomas Tuchel’s radar for England’s World Cup squad after scoring 13 goals in 33 Premier League appearances this term to help Leeds survive relegation.

Daniel Farke is hugely impressed with Calvert-Lewin’s impact, but to push him even further, the German is on the look out for a new striker. According to TEAMtalk, Leeds are leading the race for Juventus forward Lois Openda and are willing to offer “significant” wages to prise him away from Turin.

The Whites are looking to activate a loan-to-buy agreement for Openda, who has struggled at Juve since arriving for £34 million last summer.  Openda has scored just twice in 34 appearances for the Italian giants, and he is apparently “open” to a switch to the Premier League, but only if a club offering European football doesn’t come in for him.

The Belgian, who was once regarded as one of Europe’s most promising strikers, has 107 career goals and could add to that total if he joins Leeds.
