Cristian Romero, a colleague of Heung-Min Son of Tottenham Hotspur, has been described as a “special” player. After Tottenham’s 2-0 victory over Fulham last night, Son addressed the media and singled out Romero for appreciation. On Monday night, the 31-year-old found himself in the goal column once more, scoring his seventh goal of the year. With a tidy finish, James Maddison gave Spurs the victory, and Son recorded his first assist of the year. Ange Postecoglou expressed his disappointment with Tottenham after the game, saying that they weren’t playing their best last night.
However, Cristian Romero continued his stellar season-opening play at center back with another authoritative performance. Furthermore, Son acknowledged that he could watch Romero play football “all day.”

Following the victory over Fulham, Son praised Romero in remarks made to Tottenham’s official website.
“Cuti is simply exceptional,” the Spurs captain remarked. “Just take a look at him; I could sit here and watch him play all day.” Romero had a difficult season the previous year, but he has excelled thus far this season. The 25-year-old received a lot of flak last season for some careless performances, but under Postecoglou, he appears to have found his best form again. This is partially attributable to Micky van de Ven’s arrival; the two have established a strong defensive tandem in central defense. In addition, he was listed as one of Tottenham’s vice captains after Son was appointed captain during the summer.
Romero had already demonstrated his skill as a defender, especially in the early part of Antonio Conte’s coaching career. However, he cut a disgruntled figure the previous season, so seeing the Argentine return to form is a major plus for Spurs. The World Cup winner continues to play with the intensity that makes him such a valuable weapon for Tottenham, but recently, he has been more composed while playing with Van van Ven. With Romero’s recent play, Spurs appear to have found the ideal center-back combination, and Son’s remarks about him are difficult to disagree with.
