Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are expected to receive back-to-back promotions from Wrexham, but it is currently “a bit dangerous” to check the table.
AHEAD OF TIME?
Last season, the Dragons broke all previous records by winning the National League, which allowed them to make a spectacular comeback to the Football League. It was always going to be difficult to keep up that momentum, particularly after Phil Parkinson’s team suffered an unfortunate injury to star striker Paul Mullin during the summer and struggled at first to patch up defensive holes in 2023–24.

They are still playing in some of the most dramatic fourth-tier matches; it seems like every game they play has heart-stopping tension, but their ability to dig deep when necessary has allowed them to finish third in the table after 15 games.

If Wrexham can maintain or raise their current position, that would be sufficient to guarantee automatic promotion, but Steve Parkin is hesitant to put too much stock in things just yet. “The key thing is just to keep in touch with everybody who is up there and make sure that you are not too far adrift at any stage of the season,” stated Parkinson’s right-hand man.
