According to Leeds Live, Leeds United is hesitant to approve Patrick Bamford’s departure unless they can sign a replacement striker in January.

Daniel Farke is unlikely to approve a departure for Bamford until a replacement forward is brought in, according to the online news source [12 January].

Bamford has been linked to a number of teams, including promotion rivals Blackburn Rovers [The Sun], however it seems that any exit plans have been shelved.

This is because Leeds don’t want to lose any further top-tier alternatives, and fellow exit-linked forward Joe Gelhardt had a medical with Hull City [James Hoggarth] on Sunday, January 12, prior to a possible loan move.

It currently appears improbable that Patrick Bamford will leave Leeds United.
It was originally said that the Whites’ lone anticipated January transaction would be Gelhardt’s departure, and since that transfer appears certain, it raises the question of where big-name star Bamford’s future rests.

Joel Piroe is clearly the chosen player up top, and despite Mateo Joseph’s struggles, the striker hasn’t had a foot in the door at Elland Road this season.

Not only would Gelhardt’s departure demonstrate a total lack of ambition, but it would also force the Whites to make a decision regarding Bamford.

Although Gelhardt hasn’t contributed, Leeds appears to be in dire need of a striker this month, and his departure gives them one less option in a position that has already raised worries for the entire season.

A key indicator of the club’s actual goals will be whether or not that transfer posture changes in the days and weeks ahead.
