The new manager of the team is David Moyes. On Saturday morning, the Scot was officially announced as Sean Dyche’s replacement.

Moyes signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Blues, and Wednesday night’s game against Aston Villa will be his debut game as manager. Prior to this, the 61-year-old managed Everton for 11 years, from 2002 to 2013.

Keeping Everton out of the relegation zone will be Moyes’ first priority. The Blues have only won three Premier League games this season and are only one point above the drop zone. Here is a glance at the reactions of Liverpool ECHO readers to the news.

“I know some fans aren’t happy with Moyes, but I’m delighted,” commented SteGriff1967. He got us into Europe most of the time and never had a dime at Everton before. He has kept Everton solvent by signing players for peanuts and then selling them for enormous sums. He won a European trophy and got West Ham into Europe each year. I fail to see why anyone would not desire it.

“David Moyes did well enough in his first ‘Tour of Duty’, and with a VERY modest [read: non-existent] wallet,” Paul McDermott once said. He will steady the ship and take us through to the end of the season, making him the ideal candidate for the position.

“He’ll feel right at home, there’s just no nonsense,” BootRoomReloaded7 continued. What a fresh start at the new stadium! He will continue to manage the players for the upcoming season! Excellent decision; you’re quite welcome home. Yes, there will always be detractors, but since he is an expert on Everton, they have opted for the best and safest course of action.

“He will make us more organized and hopefully more adventurous going forward,” Mickbutcher said. “It’s a nightmare not having a goal scorer, major major worry.”

“Moyes is far better at it than Dyche, even though both play similar football,” Weshall, unmoved, stated. The signing of Moyes virtually ensures that we won’t be demoted. I’ll be done for the season with that.
