Tottenham Hotspur revealed last week that they would be implementing new Legacy Numbers, which will track every new senior Tottenham player chronologically. This decision was made after collaborating with historians and analysts to ascertain who had played for the team and when.

But the club hasn’t stopped there; they’ve just revealed more Legendary Numbers. Spurs management clearly believed that a roster of players alone was insufficient because over the years, both players and non-players have made significant contributions to the team that are deserving of special recognition. Here are a few of the highlights, each one a legendary player for Tottenham Hotspur.

000: Ledley King

Ledley King, the Cartilage Free Captain, is the ideal person to begin with. The longtime Spurs supporter has been a vital member of the team for many years and continues to serve as an ambassador. The main theory suggests that 000 represents the number of working knees he has available, though the exact reason behind the club’s decision to use that number is unknown.

001: All the players Harry Redknapp could have signed

Over the years, Tottenham has been linked to many players. If Harry Redknapp is to be believed—and he is, naturally—Tottenham nearly signed several future football stars. According to “Arry,” a number 001 represents where Tottenham Hotspur would have finished if those signings had been made. Luis Suarez, Eden Hazard, Patrick Viera, Thibaut Courtois, and more all almost made an appearance in Lilywhite. I, you, and ‘Arry are all aware of it.

018: Sandra Redknapp

Keeping with the Redknapp theme, “After former Spurs striker Darren Bent missed a sitter from one yard against Portsmouth, Andy once famously claimed the finishing qualities of his wife.” The club has given Sandra Redknapp 018: Darren Bent’s goal total for the club plus the goal he missed, because she would have scored where Bent did not.

069: Benoit Assou-Ekotto

Just take a look at this man’s pure sexuality. So is it any surprise that Harry Redknapp, our already trusted authority on all things football, once claimed Benoit Assou-Ekotto told him he wanted to be a porn star? The club gave him number 069 in recognition of his abilities on and off the pitch, and I’m sure it’s true.

360: Scott Parker

The next player on our list is Scott Parker, a former Hammers midfielder who made 63 appearances for Spurs over the course of two seasons. The Englishman was well-known for his ability to move the ball quickly, cover ground, force tackles, and possess the odd ability to turn on the spot. Indeed, spinning is a useful trick, and Captain Crop Circle would be the ideal person to take number 360.

420: Bob Marley

Over the years, Tottenham has had many well-known supporters. One lesser-known supporter was Bob Marley, the Reggae King. Since the musician enjoyed experimenting with gardening, as is well known, the club assigned him number 420. Is the image above authentic? What is real at all? Am I high at the moment? Who is to judge?

666. Chirpy

Examine him. Observe him. You look into his eyes and see nothing but the abyss, your soul being dragged screaming into an eternity of torment while you hear people gnashing their teeth and crying. The beast’s number is 666; hell and fire were created and set free. You are all aware that said beast is evil incarnate, Chirpy.

That is a synopsis of a few of the standout moments from the club’s Legendary Numbers. You can view the complete list in the official Tottenham Hotspur release.
