Four days ago, we covered claims from Germany which stated Brighton & Hove Albion are in pole position to sign 1. FC Nürnberg’s Stefanos Tzimas in the summer.

Last year, the striker joined Nürnberg from PAOK on loan with an option to buy set at €18m. They aim to exercise that clause in order to sell him for €25m at the end of this season.

There’s been a development as the 19-year-old will join Brighton in the winter market. That’s according to Kicker, who state Nürnberg agreed to sell him to Seagulls on Sunday.

Nürnberg have exercised the €18m purchase option and will sell him to Brighton for €25m on deadline day of the winter market.

The two clubs haven’t made it official yet and the report states the announcement will be made on Monday. The Premier League club will send him back on loan to Nürnberg until the end of this season.

Sky Deutschland are also reporting the Greece U21 international will be sold to Brighton today.

He ‘really wanted’ to join the English club after holding positive talks with Fabian Hürzeler. Nürnberg have triggered the €18m buying clause and Brighton have agreed a deal of €25m plus bonuses.

The report states Tzimas has already passed medical tests with Brighton and the transfer will be made official on Monday. They add he has agreed a long-term contract with the Seagulls.

He will finish this season at the second division German club. Sky don’t specify whether Tzimas will return to Nürnberg on loan or if Brighton have reached an agreement for him to arrive in the summer.
