Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have informed Birmingham that selling Elliot Lee would require a “unrefusable offer.
AHEAD OF TIME?
The all-action Red Dragons midfielder, who has scored 10 goals in 21 games this season, is experiencing a sharp rise in value after assisting his current employers in earning a historic return to the Football League in the 2022–2023 season.

There have been rumours that Lee is on Birmingham’s transfer radar, and Wayne Rooney, the new manager of the Blues, is reportedly in need of motivation after having a difficult start to his tenure at St. Andrew’s. It is anticipated that in January, the Birmingham board and Tom Brady will be asked to release funds for transfers.
WHAT IT SAYS
At that point, a move for Lee might be made, but Carlton Palmer, an ex-England international, has provided Football League World with an assessment of the difficulties in completing a deal: “It’s not surprising, in my opinion, that Championship clubs are interested in Lee because he’s a Championship level player playing in a lower division.” But Wrexham is a financially strong, ambitious team that is not under any pressure to sell, so Championship clubs would have to make an offer they couldn’t refuse. Lee’s desire to leave Wrexham at this time would surprise me, as the team is on a mission and trying to earn back-to-back promotions. Birmingham will probably need to look elsewhere.
Next what?
Lee, who came through West Ham’s academy, signed a contract with Wrexham in the summer of 2022, and it expires in a little over 18 months.
