Even though the international break is currently taking centre stage, Rangers manager Philippe Clement is supposedly making significant changes at the team in preparation for the return to domestic play.

Rangers trail in the race for the Premier League title.

Under Michael Beale, the Gers’ Scottish Premiership campaign got off to a disappointing start at Ibrox, as both their performances and results fell short of expectations. Because of this, Beale was eventually relieved of his responsibilities early in the season, and Clement took over in an attempt to change their fortunes. The Frenchman has made a bright start to his life in Scotland. Rangers’ season has gained some momentum, and with a game remaining, they are currently eight points behind Celtic.

The Hoops are undoubtedly the favourites to win the championship once more in 2023–2024, but the Gers have a new look, and it is hoped that Clement will only help them get better. International play has currently taken the place of domestic football, but it appears that the players who are not currently representing Scotland or other nations are being questioned severely by their new manager.

Crucial Aspect at the Rangers report

Wayne Veysey of Football Insider claims that Clement is putting a lot of physical effort into getting his Rangers team in top form for the rest of the season with the goal of “blow[ing] Celtic away” during the international break.

“Sources have told Football Insider that Philippe Clement is working really hard with his Rangers players during the international break in an effort to improve their physical preparedness and help them reach new heights, at their Auchenhowie training facility.

“The players who stay in Glasgow over the two-week break are rumoured to have participated in specially designed fitness regimens designed by the Ibrox manager to help them get in better shape for the pre-Christmas programme. Depending on how busy their match schedule was before the international break, those players who weren’t on the national team were only allowed to take two or three days off.”

From a Rangers standpoint, this is excellent to hear. Clement evidently believes that his team hasn’t been at full fitness under Beale and that improvements in that area will help them step up as a unit. A recent report even suggested that the players were not physically fit enough under Beale, despite Glen Kamara’s physical prowess at Leeds United being praised despite the events at Ibrox prior to his move to Elland Road.

It is extremely encouraging to see that Clement feels the need to focus on this area because having players who are extremely fit is crucial in the modern game, where players are expected to play high-intensity styles and relentlessly push the norm for many sides.

Being physically fit can make a team ruthlessly effective off the ball, as teams like Manchester City and Liverpool have demonstrated in recent years. The Rangers manager appears to share this belief, which could set the stage for his team to be in top form going into a demanding stretch of games.
