Wisconsin Badgers Band Crowned Best in the League; Netflix Announces Documentary

Madison, WI – The University of Wisconsin Marching Band, affectionately known as the “Badger Band,” has been officially crowned the Best College Band in the Big Ten—and soon, their journey will be showcased in a new Netflix documentary.

The announcement came after the Badgers Band earned overwhelming fan and critic praise for their high-energy performances, intricate formations, and iconic “Fifth Quarter” post-game shows. Known for their renditions of “On Wisconsin” and “Jump Around,” the 300-member ensemble has become a staple of Wisconsin football gamedays, electrifying crowds at Camp Randall Stadium.

A Legacy of Excellence
Under the direction of Dr. Corey Pompey, the band has elevated its game with innovative routines, viral halftime shows, and a commitment to musical excellence. The recognition as the Best in the Big Ten solidifies their reputation as one of the most entertaining and skilled marching bands in college sports.

Netflix Documentary in the Work
Netflix has confirmed an upcoming documentary that will dive into the band’s rich history, intense rehearsals, and the passion that drives its members. Titled “The Sound of the Badgers,” the film will follow the band through the 2024 season, capturing behind-the-scenes moments, personal stories, and the pressure of performing at one of college football’s most electric venues.

“This band is more than just music—it’s a tradition, a family, and a spectacle,” said a Netflix producer. “We can’t wait to share their story with the world.”

Fans can expect the documentary to premiere in late 2025. Meanwhile, the Badgers Band will continue to bring the energy to every Wisconsin football game, proving once again why they’re the best in the league.
