As he gets ready to switch up his starting lineup for Aston Villa’s match against Legia Warsaw on Thursday, Unai Emery maintains that the Premier League is still the team’s top priority.
Villa will be officially declared the winners of Group E if they defeat the Polish team by a minimum of two goals. That would entail avoiding the round of 32, which would require two more matches, and receiving a bye to the round of 16. Emery is still focused on the league, though, as many Villa supporters think their team has a good chance of making it to the Champions League the following year.
Fourth-placed Villa won’t take any chances at home, especially with five spots up for grabs for English clubs in the 2024–25 league. The Premier League is the most important competition for us,” Emery declared.
Although it was quite difficult for us to obtain the European positions this season, we have done so. We need to approach every game with a demanding mentality.
Emery changed the first team at Villa when he joined a little over a year ago. As soon as he got there, he guided Villa out of relegation danger, and they finished seventh to guarantee European football.
Villa’s stellar start to the season has left them just two points behind leaders Arsenal, which happens to be Emery’s old team. Villa takes on Arsenal on December 9.
They play Manchester City at Villa Park three days earlier.
