Salis Abdul Samed, a Lens midfielder, is being pursued by Aston Villa as a possible replacement for Douglas Luiz, who is being pursued by Arsenal and Liverpool.

Salis Abdul Samed played against Arsenal on Wednesday night and may soon play for Aston Villa in the Premier League. This is in line with a TEAMtalk report that states Villa is currently investigating a move for Abdul Samed. At the Emirates Stadium, Lens was destroyed 6-0 as Arsenal ran wild against the Ligue 1 team. By halftime, Arsenal led 5-0 and appeared to coast afterward, but one Lens player might move to England in 2024.

Salis Abdul Samed is what Aston Villa wants.
According to TEAMtalk, Aston Villa is reportedly interested in signing Salis Abdul Samed, a midfielder for Lens. Abdul Samed is reportedly on Villa’s wish list after the team saw him play for Lens this season. Villa may have scouted Lens during his Wednesday trip to London, but this wasn’t the best night for Lens. According to the report, Villa might try to sign Abdul Samed if Douglas Luiz decides to leave Villa Park in the near future.

This week, 90Min revealed that Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal are now in the running to sign Luiz.

While a January transfer would be extremely surprising, Villa might have to fight off interest in Luiz for the duration of 2024. Villa will demand a high price for the Brazilian, but since Abdul Samed is now desired, it would be prudent to consider possible replacements.

Who is Abdul Samed, Villa’s target?
Abdul Samed was born and raised in Accra, Ghana, and initially attended the JMG Academy in both Accra and the Ivory Coast. Abdul Samed’s talent was noticed by the French team Clermont Foot, who signed him to a two-year loan in 2019. Abdul Samed only stayed at Clermont Foot for a single year before Lens signed him on as a permanent fixture. Last season, the 23-year-old and Seko Fofana forged a fantastic midfield partnership that helped Lens qualify for the Champions League.

Abdul Samed was called a “soldier” by Fofana after his tireless midfield play in France last season caught their attention.

Abdul Samed is a gifted player who has seven caps under his belt as a full Ghanaian international, so it’s not surprising that the Premier League is becoming more interested in him.
