On November 2, 2024, Penn State quarterback Drew Allar departed Beaver Stadium amid jeers. Allar’s effort against his home-state team was inconsistent, and the outcome was another defeat to Ohio State. Allar is 30-for-62 for 337 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in two starts against the Buckeyes.

The idea that Allar is incapable of performing well in crucial games against top defenses was reinforced by those performances. With the assistance of defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, who gave the third-year starter his Ohio State scouting report of the quarterback from the previous campaign, Allar hopes to dispel that myth this season.
At the Big Ten Football Media Days in Las Vegas, Allar stated, “I knew there were areas I needed to work on, but those kind of reconfirmed it.” The reception was overwhelmingly good. In order to prevent such things from happening, I’m attempting to transform those areas that were on film into my strengths this year.
