Danilo, a striker for Rangers, will miss four months of action after scans revealed the worst case scenario for his knee injury.
After Danilo’s performance against Hearts, Philippe Clement had thought he would be back in the mix shortly after the winter break. However, the Scottish Sun claims that the 24-year-old has suffered a severe injury and won’t be able to play until April. It comes after Danilo, who has had bad luck since joining Rangers for £7 million, missed a significant portion of the season earlier this year due to a facial injury.
Although Clement had bemoaned his bad luck with injuries, he will now look to Kemar Roofe and Cyriel Dessers in the interim until January, when he intends to bring in a new striker. Prior to the official confirmation of Danilo’s injury, Clement stated: “We will look to bring someone in; it will be a top priority.” The other strikers, though, must demonstrate that they are prepared.
Despite lamenting his unfortunate string of ailments, Clement will now turn to Kemar Roofe and Cyriel Dessers while he waits to add a new striker in January. Even before Danilo’s injury was formally confirmed, Clement said, “We will look to bring someone in; it will be a top priority.” But the other strikers need to show that they are ready.
“Kemar is not prepared for a ninety-minute game. I expect goals from other places, so I don’t want to put all the responsibility on Abdallah to score them.
We don’t have enough wingers in training, so I haven’t got the opportunity to deploy him as a central striker. It’s about the players demonstrating that they are prepared to play for a team like Rangers and all the responsibilities that entails.
