Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are said to be in the race to sign Eric Dier, who is free to leave Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer window closes.
We are nearing the end of the summer transfer window, which will slam shut on Friday. Borussia Dortmund are still looking to bolster their squad in a number of positions, including at centre-back. And Sky Sports in the UK are claiming that they could go head to head with Bayern Munich in the race to sign Eric Dier.
The report adds that Borussia Dortmund are pushing very hard to sign the defender before transfer deadline day. While Bayern are interested in signing Dier as a potential replacement for Benjamin Pavard, who is on his way to Inter Milan.
Dier is free to leave Tottenham Hotspur, having fallen out of favour under new head coach Ange Postecoglou. He is capable of playing at both centre-back and in the number six role.
It remains to be seen just how much truth there is to this rumour. Borussia Dortmund are looking to bolster their defence, and Eric Dier would offer them with a relatively cheap solution as he has less than 12 months left on his current contract. The 29 year old also has plenty of top-level experience under his belt, having made 361 appearances for Tottenham.
The Black and Yellows have also been linked with Armel Bella-Kotchap in recent weeks, and the Southampton defender is said to be their top target. BVB would like to sign the 21 year old on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
