Rob McElhenney, a Hollywood celebrity and co-owner of Wrexham, responded to several messages directed towards his team by sending a message to a Notts County supporter.

Consequently, what happened?
In response to a tweet from a Notts County supporter, McElhenney responded forcefully: “If we get a few more recruits. The league will be won by us. Although a number of tweets criticizing Wrexham in recent days, rather than just one, most likely motivated McElhenney’s response, it might seem like a little of overreaction on the part of the Red Dragons’ co-owner.

MCELHENNEY’S QUOTES
McElhenney responded to the NottsCountyZone account by saying, “This is still one of my favorite accounts. I will always be a fan, no matter how many times you urge me to shut up. In fact, with each biting remark or combative pause, my regard for you will only grow. I want to meet you @NottsCountyZone one day. I’ll be here pushing my rubbish documentary up my ass until then. “To you and yours, a very happy New Year!”

THE LARGER IMAGE
Notts County and Wrexham have been bitter rivals for the last two seasons, having battled for League Two this season and the National League championship last year. With only four points separating the top two teams in the rankings, McElhenney’s outburst might indicate that pressure is beginning to show. The possibility of McElhenney and NottsCountyZone ever meeting may disappear if the tension increases.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR NOTTS COUNTY AND WREXHAM?
After stunning losses to mid-table Walsall on Friday, Wrexham will be looking to win four out of five games when they take on Barrow on New Year’s Day. Prior victories over Swindon Town, Colchester United, and Newport Country came before that. Notts County travels to Tranmere in the meantime.
