According to reports, Jonathan Tah may finally join West Ham, although it would require a center-back to leave in the upcoming days and weeks.

Everton’s ten-point deduction has made the West Ham board more conscious of their impending violation of FFP. The bulk of the money needed for the January transfer window will need to be raised through player sales, according to ExWHUEmployee, our insider. The Hammers’ repeated links to center backs could therefore indicate that a player is close to leaving.

There have been recent rumors suggesting David Moyes is contemplating whether to pursue long-term target Jonathan Tah. As Bayer Leverkusen sits atop the Bundesliga without a loss, the 27-year-old defender has been instrumental in the team’s success thus far this season. Journalist Paul Brown feels that if West Ham were to buy a central defender, it would be the German.

Brown started out by telling GIVEMESPORT, “It’s interesting that they’d be going for a central defender because they seem quite well stocked there.” If they made such a bargain, it would imply that someone is departing.

Actually, they have been keeping an eye on Tah for the past two or three years. I am aware that Moyes is a huge fan of that player. Over the years, he has seen him firsthand. There was even a moment when West Ham might have placed a bid for Tah. The transfer did not work out, for whatever reason. Since then, I believe they have kept an eye on him, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they brought that one back.

“I believe that the team perhaps needs more help in other areas than at center defense. It will be intriguing to observe how they allocate their funds in January. If they can make them, I do believe there will be signings coming in,” he said in closing.

It’s interesting to note that Ex exclusively disclosed today that Tim Steidten had visited Monaco to negotiate a contract that would have allowed Thilo Kehrer to join the French team. Although the German has been utilized more as a right defender, it may initially appear that this is the player the club is trying to replace. This begs the issue of who the team might be able to acquire in order to sign Tah.

The club would undoubtedly need to acquire a defender if Nayef Aguerd—who was unexpectedly linked to a move away from East London in recent days—turns out to be the real deal. Perhaps they consider the Leverkusen player to be an improvement over the Moroccan international.

Thankfully, the window opens in a few hours, so we won’t have to wait long to find out exactly what transfers Moyes and his colleagues have planned.

It appears that this could be another action-packed window despite the tight budget. Hopefully, our Irons emerge from this even more formidable than they are now.
