Ben Williamson signed a contract with Hamilton Academical on January 4, and Rangers has confirmed that he left the team permanently.

The defensive midfielder, who spent time on loan at Arbroath, Livingston, Raith Rovers, Dundee FC, and Partick Thistle, is a graduate of the Ibrox junior academy and has a ton of experience.

Williamson played 12 games in the Scottish Championship during his first half of the season while on loan at the latter, helping Thistle push for a shot at playing in the Scottish Premiership.

After passing through the club’s academy, Rangers has sent its best wishes for the player’s upcoming journey.

It is said that the transaction involved three clubs vying for the young player’s signature, making it a touch more intricate than typical. After his six-month loan with the club, Partick Thistle had original agreements in place, according to the Daily Record.

The 22-year-old appears to be a lock to start for Hamilton in their Saturday, January 6th trip to Stirling Albion. Why shouldn’t he, too?

The midfielder has made 74 appearances away from Ibrox over his multiple loan stints out of the Rangers youth, demonstrating ample talent.

Williamson has also made a few appearances for Rangers U19 in the UEFA Youth League for the 2019–20 campaign, assisting the team in two wins over Slovan Bratislava and draws against Young Boys.

He even has international experience, having played for Scotland’s U21 team five times between August 2021 and March 2022. Hamilton has shown a bright talent at such a young age.
