Scott McKenna, a defender for Nottingham Forest, is reportedly being pursued by Celtic this month.

The Scotland international lost favor at the City Ground and is expected to depart the Premier League team in January. Before his contract ends in the summer and they lose him for free, Forest is eager to move the 27-year-old.

Brendan Rodgers was reportedly interested in the former Aberdeen center-back, as was revealed earlier this week.

The Nottingham Post reports that the Scottish champions appear to be in a strong position to get McKenna.

Despite Forest’s desire to sell, the transaction is reportedly a borrowing maneuver.

In the midst of his continuing title battle with Rangers, Rodgers is eager to strengthen his defense during this window.

After a brief but intense stint in Glasgow, Nat Phillips has returned to Liverpool, while Gustaf Lagerbielke’s future appears to be uncertain barely six months after his permanent arrival.

The other first-choice center halves are Stephen Welsh, Liam Scales, Maik Nawrocki, and Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Yuki Kobayashi’s tenure at Celtic likewise seems to be coming to an end after barely a year. A year and a half ago, he moved from Vissel Kobe under Ange Postecoglou.

Despite not playing for Rodgers this season, the Daily Mail claims that the 23-year-old is set to sign with Yokohama F. Marinos, who are currently managed by Harry Kewell, with whom he previously played at Celtic.

While Brendan Rodgers expressed his desire to complete his transfer business as soon as possible this month, he also used Celtic’s failure to secure Declan Rice as an example of why fans may need to exercise some patience during the January transfer window.

During his first stint in command, the Celtic manager disclosed that the team was on the verge of signing the now-£100 million Arsenal and England midfielder. However, injuries at West Ham presented an opening for him there, which he took advantage of.
