The first week of the transfer market is gone, and Leeds United doesn’t seem to be in a big hurry to make any acquisitions.
Despite sending Djed Spence back to Tottenham Hotspur, Daniel Farke stated in his press conference on Friday that Leeds will not go out of the league this month and that there is “no emergency.”
At the end of last week, Leeds decided to terminate Spence’s season-long loan at Elland Road. Farke gave an explanation for the decision.
Ultimately, though, Leeds won’t want to finish the window any weaker than when they began. Right-backs have been linked, with Burnley’s Connor Roberts being the most prominent.
Furthermore, Leeds are huge supporters of Nottingham Forest’s Neco Williams, according to Phil Hay, who was speaking on the most recent episode of the Square Ball Podcast. However, a trade might be difficult to complete.
Williams unlikely to join with Leeds
He stated: “I don’t think there is any scope for Forest to let Neco Williams out, but a few individuals have been telling us that they enjoy him at Forest as well. He appears to be doing well in Nuno’s plans. Leeds’ transfer situation is currently very, very quiet.
When Leeds was looking for a right-back in the summer, they were considering Williams, but they decided to go with Spence instead of Max Aarons, who was signed by Bournemouth.
The 22-year-old, who joined with Forest for £16 million in the summer of 2022, had been destined to go on loan this month, but Nuno Espirito Santo’s arrival appears to have changed everything.
Despite the abundance of choices Forest has at right-back, including Ola Aina, Serge Aurier, and Gonzalo Montiel, Williams has appeared in all four games under Nuno, if only once.
Given that Williams can play both right and left back with ease, he would be the perfect addition for Leeds, but things are looking very difficult to work out right now.
