According to Sky Sports Italy, Hellas Verona is getting close to signing Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz on loan.
The news outlet said on January 12 that with negotiations now at a more advanced stage, the Serie A club is now in the “driving seat” to defeat rival Serie A teams Sassuolo and Monza and sign Yilmaz.
Yilmaz is expected to follow Sam Lammers out of the Ibrox exit (Rangers Twitter account, January 10) this month, according to a report published by the Daily Record on January 11. The Ibrox recruitment team is currently seeking a left-back.

Getting nearer
Yilmaz appears to have a good chance of following Lammers out the Ibrox exit door this month, giving Hellas Verona a distinct advantage in getting his signature.
Yilmaz’s time with the Rangers is over as it appears that Clement and new transfer chief Nils Koppen are looking for a more youthful left-back.
In a transaction estimated to be around £3.5 million, Yilmaz left Besiktas last summer, but because of his injury problems during his first season, he essentially fell behind Barisic in Michael Beale’s hierarchy.
Despite having started a good number of games under Clement, he has nevertheless drawn a lot of criticism for his lackluster performances, and it appears the Belgian is already sick of his inconsistent play.
The Gers will now only have one left-back in the lineup, therefore it’s imperative that Clement and Koppen find a suitable substitute for the Turk as soon as possible at Ibrox. A few candidates are already in the running.
Although Yilmaz’s Ibrox career has turned out to be a complete disaster, it’s better for everyone to move on for the time being.
