The most recent information on transfers involving Brighton & Hove Albion and other Premier League teams

This week, Valentin Barco’s £8 million contract is anticipated to be finalized and announced by Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 19-year-old will increase head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s options on the left wing as the Seagulls have exercised their release clause with Boca Juniors.

This Brighton transfer is typical of them; they have experience in the South American transfer market.

One of South America’s finest developing talents, Barco allegedly agreed to a contract till June 2028 with an option to extend until June 2029. Man City and Chelsea were also showing interest in him.

Nonetheless, Brighton is thought to be a very strong choice for the top young players in that region of the globe. World Cup winners Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo, for example, were both signed lately for very small prices, made their Premier League reputations, and then transferred to Liverpool and Chelsea, respectively, for huge profits.

While Ecuador international Jeremy Sarmiento (on loan at Ipswich) and Columbia international Steven Alzate (on loan at Standard Liège) remain on the books, Barco will join fellow Argentine teenager Facundo Buonanotte, Paraguay playmaker Julio Enciso, Ecuador left back Pervis Estupinan, Brazilian defender Igor, and striker Joao Pedro to increase Brighton’s South American contingent.

Barco joined Bocca at the age of nine and has grown through the organization. Though he can fill in at left back or even in the central midfield regions, his primary position is on the left side of the midfield.

On the surface, it appears that this intriguing addition to Albion will complement De Zerbi’s adaptable style of play.

However, the teenager won’t be available until at least February because he has Argentina Under-23s matches to play in order to qualify for the Olympics.

Brighton’s next Premier League match is against Wolves on January 22 at the Amex Stadium. Brighton is now practicing in Dubai in the warm weather. After that, on January 27, they go to Sheffield for their FA Cup fourth-round match. On January 30, they quickly return to league play at Luton Town.
