We are pleased to welcome Dr. Rajpal Brar, an expert on injuries, as a new exclusive columnist. He will provide his opinions on Aston Villa’s injury status every week.
Giovanni Reyna, an offensive midfielder for Borussia Dortmund, is expected to clear his physical despite rumors of a transfer to Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, according to Dr. Rajpal Brar.
The injury specialist responded to the American international’s evaluation of his own failures in an open interview with Goal published in October 2023.
According to ESPN, Football Transfers stated on January 17 that Villa, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves were interested in signing the 21-year-old. It is believed that the Bundesliga team will need to receive £12.8 million in order to sell him.
Speaking about the circumstances, Dr. Brar, a sports scientist and physical therapist, told Villa News that suffering from repeated injuries can teach young football players important lessons, particularly in handling the mental aspect of the game.
“As for the leg injury he suffered at the beginning of the season, it was the least severe kind, a hairline fracture.
“I wouldn’t expect his medicals to be a problem, so you can expect any medical staff to give the go-ahead unless there’s some serious unknown issue.”
Reyna has made just one league start and has made nine appearances off the bench for Dortmund this season, making him a bit-part player.
Relocating from Signal Iduna Park would be the best option for him to restart his career as he hasn’t scored a goal or even assisted one.
If Villa wants to sign him, they will need to ward off interest from Wolves and Nottingham Forest, two other Premier League teams.
