Ellis Simms, a striker, was permanently acquired by Coventry City from Everton during the summer transfer window.
Simms was acquired by Coventry City during the summer transfer window as part of the team’s statement. Everton let him go for a reported £3.5 million up front, but add-ons might drive that price up to £8 million.
The 23-year-old left Goodison Park following a series of loans. While his stints at Blackpool, Hearts, and Sunderland were all quite successful, a permanent move has given him the opportunity to make a permanent home at a club instead of having to relocate across the nation.
Speaking exclusively to Sky Bet on behalf of The72, Simms has now revealed his plans for kicking things off with Coventry City. He declared:
“I’ve spent a brief amount of time at teams since I’ve been on loan to a handful of them, some of which were half-season loans. However, now that I’m a permanent employee at Coventry, I feel more at ease and am ready to go.
“I know where I’m living, I know that Coventry is my home for the next few years, I know that the players and staff will be the same, and I know that I can build day by day, season by season. I also know how important it is to be playing regular football at my age, and that’s all I want to do.”
Simms was one of many new players brought in during a hectic summer, but the Sky Blues have also been active this month. Arriving from the Norwegian team Sarpsborg 08, Victor Torp is being hailed as their summertime replacement for Gustavo Hamer.
Although the 24-year-old has not yet made his Coventry City debut, supporters are looking forward to
Since Victor Torp joined the team, he has greatly pleased him, the speaker remarked.
“To start with, he speaks English really well. We’ve spoken about his previous life and the clubs he’s visited, but he looks terrific in training. He appears to be technical, calm when handling the ball, and I believe he will bring something new to our club.
“I’m excited to play with him because he has good vision, a good shot, and knowledge of where the goal is.”
On Saturday, Simms and Coventry City will play Sheffield Wednesday for the second straight week. The Sky Blues will take on the Owls in an FA Cup fourth round match this coming Saturday in Sheffield, having defeated them 2-1 in their Championship match the previous weekend.
Striker Simms is optimistic about their prospects, and Mark Robins and company will see it as a wonderful opportunity to advance. He emphasized that they won’t be anticipating an easy game, though.
“As a team, we’re playing well and have produced a lot of positive outcomes lately, but we are aware that Sheffield Wednesday will not be an easy opponent. We know it will be a different game in the FA Cup, but we played them in the League on Saturday and won.
“With our mentality and if we win against Sheffield Wednesday, we’ll fancy our chances against anyone, because anyone can beat anyone on any given day in a cup,” the player said.
