According to reports, Nottingham Forest plans to make a move in the last days of the January transfer window for talented Sporting attacker Rodrigo Ribeiro.
Rodrigo Ribeiro, a striker for Sporting, is supposedly on the verge of joining Nottingham Forest.
The forward, who made 10 league appearances for Sporting B this season and contributed three goals in seven starts, is a prospect in Sporting’s program. In his brief career, Ribeiro has appeared for the first team seven times, most recently in the Champions League against Manchester City in March 2022 as a late substitution.
18-year-old Ribeiro led Sporting U19s to the UEFA Youth League semifinals, scoring six goals and dishing out two assists in nine games. In as many games, the striker also contributed five goals, helping Portugal U19s advance to the summer’s Euro final. Ribeiro is rumored to be approaching a move to the City Ground and to be on Forest’s radar.
As to writer Fabrizio Romano’s article, Forest is reportedly nearing a deal to sign Ribeiro. The deal is characterized as an initial loan with a Sporting buy-option clause.
According to Romano, the agreement is “almost agreed” and the last details are being worked out. The 18-year-old might be the next player to move to the East Midlands and join Gio Reyna, who is headed to Forest.
On Thursday, February 1, Forest will have till 11 p.m. to make any new signings. After a quiet start to the market, the next few days might be bustling as the club looks to demonstrate that they are taking their alleged violation of Premier League profit and sustainability criteria seriously.
Given that Forest’s current goal is to get out of the relegation zone, Ribeiro would be a future addition. Taiwo Awoniyi’s return will be welcomed by Nuno Espirito Santo, who can also rely on Chris Wood.
