Prior to the January transfer window, Phil Parkinson began bolstering his team by completing the acquisition of Luke Bolton from Salford City.
The 24-year-old, who can play full-back or as a winger, signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Wrexham, keeping him at The Racecourse until the conclusion of the 2025–26 season. He left his League Two rivals for an undisclosed sum.
Born in Stockport Bolton started his career at Manchester City and received his first taste of success in the 2018–19 campaign when he made two appearances for the under 21 team in the EFL Trophy, netting one goal in matches against Barnsley and Rochdale.
Bolton, an England under-20 international, played for Wycombe Wanderers on loan in the second part of the season before temporarily moving to Luton Town for the 2019–20 campaign, where he made 28 appearances across all competitions for the Hatters.
Bolton relocated to Salford in January 2022 after making two more EFL Trophy appearances for Manchester City at the beginning of 2021–2022—scoring in a 3-0 victory at Scunthorpe.
During his tenure at the Peninsular Stadium, Bolton made 78 league games and scored six goals.
Twenty of those occurred this season, notably the meeting at The Racecourse in October, where Wrexham overcame a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2.
