According to Andy Newport, Rangers will now declare Oscar Cortes’ arrival on loan from Lens prior to the transfer deadline.

After arriving and completing his Ibrox medical, the Colombian has signed the paperwork for his six-month contract, according to a tweet from the Daily Record writer on February 1.

He will join Mohamed Diomande and Fabio Silva in January as new additions to Philippe Clement’s Light Blues team, which aims to contend for the SPFL championship.

Oscar Cortes has signed the formalities to transfer from Lens to Rangers on a six-month loan, according to Newport. The 20-year-old attacker from Colombia landed in Glasgow for his check-up. I’m just waiting on the club to make an official announcement.

Right on schedule

Although summer has almost come to a close, Clement is set to add another offensive player to help overcome the numerous injury issues that the forward areas are facing.

Following just six months in France, the young player is back on the move, with the possibility of a long-term, permanent contract with Rangers should certain conditions be met.

There is a huge void on the Gers’ left wing that Cortes will likely have to help fill after Abdallah Sima returned from the Africa Cup of Nations with a serious injury despite not playing a minute.

It will be a great chance for him to move up, having only made four substitute appearances in Ligue 1 since leaving Millonarios in his own country, with one goal.

Supporters will be hoping that the team continues to work toward acquiring a striker until the deadline passes, even though Clement and Nis Koppen haven’t indicated that they are interested in making any rash purchases.

In other Rangers news, the future of an attacker connected to the exit has been decided ahead of time for the January window.
