After Matz Sels, the former goalkeeper for Newcastle United, transferred to Nuno’s Nottingham Forest on the last day of the January transfer window, Marc Keller has shared his assessment of the player.

The president of Strasbourg, Keller, has described the qualities that make Sels a superb goalkeeper and the kind of person Forest is acquiring in him.

What has Marc Keller stated regarding Matz Sels, the goalkeeper at Nottingham Forest? Let’s examine this.

Matz Sels, the goalie for Nottingham Forest, deserves praise.
On the day of the deadline, Nottingham Forest signed Matz Sels from RC Strasbourg Alsace.

In the January transfer window, the Reds are said to have spent £5 million in transfer fees to acquire the services of the former goalkeeper for Newcastle United.

Before acquiring Sels, Forest was linked to other goalkeepers. The Reds made an attempt to sign David de Gea, a former Manchester United player. They had also discussed Sam Johnstone.

Marc Keller, the president of Strasbourg, has described Sels’s qualities as a very excellent player and person and has wished him luck at Forest. For the French team, the 31-year-old appeared in over 160 league games.

According to BBC Sport, Keller expressed gratitude to Matz for being a great soldier for Sels over the years.

“He was a superb captain and goalie. However, he stated a desire to try his luck in England once more after nearly six seasons here, saying that he was ready for a new challenge.

“Matz has consistently performed flawlessly for the team. Now, we’re wishing him the very best in his future endeavors. He will always be a part of racing legend.

In my opinion, Matt Turner should be extremely concerned about Nottingham Forest’s January transfer window acquisition of Matz Sels. Sels, a more seasoned goalkeeper who spent time with Newcastle United in England, is 31 years old and playing at the top of his game; he hasn’t come to Forest to be a bench warmer. Matt Turner should be wary of this move as well.

Turner has cost Forest dearly in a few of his mistakes. The goalie for the United States national team has demonstrated why Arsenal chose to let him go in the summer of 2023.

Turner’s future at Forest is rather dim, in my opinion. In the summer of 2024, I wouldn’t be shocked if the Reds let go of the former Arsenal goalie.
