Rob McElhenney, a co-owner of Wrexham, told supporters what his greatest dream is for the League Two team, saying he considers it “all the time.”
Rob McElhenney, a co-owner of Wrexham, has shared with supporters his desire to play for the team on the road.
This past week, the 46-year-old shared his long-held dream on X (previously known as Twitter) in response to a fan’s suggestion that he should go on an away day with League Two supporters.
Along with fellow owner Ryan Reynolds, the Always Sunny star is a frequent visitor to the team’s home stadium, The Racecourse Ground.
A fan on X sent a message to McElhenney and Reynolds after quoting Alan Shearer’s remark about the Newcastle great watching a game from the Toon’s away end for the first time since 1985.
“You should defo do an away end some day @RMcElhenney @VancityReynolds @thehumphreyker,” the fan tweeted. “I completely agree that Shaun will caution against it for safety reasons. Shearer simply entered the toon end and made it out alive. Everything is well. What could possibly go wrong? being engulfed in love!”
“There is nothing I want more than to experience a game in that end,” the Philadelphia native retorted. I consider it frequently.” With one supporter vowing to defend him completely, Wrexham supporters urged their owner to follow through on his desire, saying, “Just do it, you’ll be the safest man in the stadium, trust me not one person would let any harm come to you, your one of us.”

The supporters that traveled to Salford on Saturday, February 3, were among those who didn’t have the greatest of experiences as Phil Parkinson’s team lost 3-1 for the second straight game.
Although Gary Neville and his fellow Class of 92 teammates emerged victorious, former Swansea City player Lee Trundle cautioned the Hollywood pair to take lessons from their blunders with the Salford project.
“Even though it has slowed down a little over the last few years, it’s been an amazing project,” he stated. “They were all former Manchester United players.” The Salford narrative was interesting, in my opinion, but Wrexham draws a considerably larger crowd.
