Chris Shula, a new defensive coordinator hired by the Los Angeles Rams last week, took Raheem Morris’ place after Morris resigned to take over as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. After that, a number former Rams assistants, including Jimmy Lake, who was appointed Atlanta’s new defensive coordinator, started to follow Morris to the Falcons. They are now looking for methods to bolster the defensive line, and their search appears to have brought them to Greg Williams, a 15-year NFL coaching veteran and coordinator of the Packers’ passing game.

Jonathan Jones of CBS NFL Analysts has reported that Williams had an interview with the Rams to fill the position of inside linebackers coach.

Williams would take over for Shula in his new role as defensive coordinator. The 47-year-old came to Green Bay after serving as the Arizona Cardinals’ cornerbacks coach for four seasons, from 2019 to 2022, and stayed for one season.

Williams previously worked as the defensive backs coach for the Colts for two seasons in 2016–17 and the Broncos for one season in 2018. Williams started his coaching career as an intern at Arizona State in 2003. Over the course of his 21-year coaching career, he has made 10 different stops. In 2009, he joined the San Diego Chargers in the NFL.
