Club face ‘lot of competition’ from Leeds to sign 20-year-old – 8 goals in 20 matches in 2023

At the weekend, claims in the English press stated Leeds United are looking at Everton’s Tom Cannon.

The Whites could prove to be a tough competitor for Sampdoria in the race to sign the 20-year-old.

That’s according to Genoa’s edition of La Repubblica, who mention Leeds’ interest in the Everton player when explaining the Serie B side’s interest in him.

The website focuses on the business Andrea Pirlo’s side could carry out in the remaining days of the transfer window. Towards the end, they talk about the striker ending up on the Italian club’s radar.

It’s said Sampdoria won’t find it easy to sign the youngster because they will face a ‘lot of competition’ from other clubs. Only Daniel Farke’s side gets a mention.

Everton allowed Cannon to spend the second half of last season on loan at Preston North End. He scored eight goals and registered one assist from 20 league games for the Championship side.

Sampdoria could be set for a battle to sign Cannon, months after Andrea Radrizzani sold his stake at Leeds and invested in the Serie B club.

Everton offer is €4m short – ‘Still time left’ for Dyche’s side to get deal over line

Everton failed in their efforts to sign Beto after sending a bid to Udinese in January. This was confirmed by several officials of the Serie A side, including their manager Andrea Sottil earlier this year.

The Toffees are back in the mix for the striker if multiple reports coming out of Italy are to be believed.

Il Messaggero Veneto, relayed by Udinese Blog, explain that Everton are ‘thinking about him’.

It’s further claimed Sean Dyche’s side are considering taking the Portuguese on a loan deal with an option to buy set at £22m [€26m].

The report states it’s more than the 21.9m they proposed in the winter market, without making it clear if the figures are in euros or pounds. Either way, the fee they want to offer now is higher than the one proposed earlier this year.

Il Messaggero Veneto add Nottingham Forest are also in the mix to sign the 25-year-old.

Meanwhile, Rai say there is ‘still time left’ for Everton to bring Beto to the Premier League. They further add the Merseyside club’s ‘offer today is around’ €26m, but this is still €4m short of the fee requested by Udinese.
