Coventry City manager Mark Robins has been busy in the transfer window this summer – and that has included the record signing of Haji Wright
Mark Robins is confident Coventry City will see the very best of summer import Haji Wright once he has concluded his bedding in period. The striker joined the Sky Blues from Turkish side Antalyaspor this summer, for a club-record transfer sum, to help fill the void left by departing talisman Viktor Gyokeres.
Wright, 25, scored his first goal for the club in the recent 3-0 win over Middlesbrough at the CBS Arena and he was rewarded a week later with his first league start, in the draw at Swansea City. The USA international is understandably still finding his feet in his new surroundings and patience is required as he gets up to speed with things both on the pitch and away from it.

You look at all of our players, and it’s the same. You want them to flourish and thrive in the team,” Robins said. “Haji is the same as any of the others. They’re all striving to hit form and hit the ground running. In terms of his contributions, they’ve been significant in the games that he’s played, and hopefully that can continue on that upward trajectory.
“With Ellis and Matty too, we’ve got some talented players there. Sometimes it takes just that little bit longer to click – Haji’s first contribution at Leicester, he almost scored what might’ve been the winning goal. He contributed to the penalty and numerous opportunities at Wimbledon and then he scores his first goal against Middlesbrough.
“He is finding his feet, he’s just settling into a new area and he’s got a young family, so he’s got it all going on at the moment. Once those things settle down and it becomes normal, then for everybody it’ll be better.
“We’ve brought nine players in, and they’re all settling in at different stages, but I don’t expect there to be any major hiccups in terms of the settling in period. Everybody wants their families with them and to make sure they’re settled into where their accommodation is and we’ll try and help them as much as we can with that process, but everybody is doing okay at the moment.”
