Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Armel Bella-Kotchap and could yet reach an agreement with Southampton before the transfer window closes.
Armel Bella-Kotchap is said to be Borussia Dortmund’s top target as they look to bolster their defence before the end of the transfer window. It was reported earlier this month that Southampton’s high asking price could make the 21 year old too expensive for BVB.
But according to Sport1, there are some indications that the Black and Yellows could reach an agreement with Southampton before Friday’s deadline.
The report adds that Bella-Kotchap is open to a move to Borussia Dortmund, as he believes that he can be the long-term replacement for Mats Hummels. And he is also ready for the competition for places that would come with a potential move to BVB.
Niklas Süle and Nico Schlotterbeck are the only other natural centre-backs in the Borussia Dortmund ranks at the moment. So those in charge are looking to bring in a new defender to add more strength in depth to the position.
Reports have claimed in recent weeks that Southampton want more than 20 million euros for Armel Bella-Kotchap, who joined them from VfL Bochum last summer on a four year contract.
Borussia Dortmund only have around ten million euros left to spend this summer, and would instead prefer to sign the Germany international on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season. It will be interesting to see if the two clubs manage to reach an agreement in the end.
