Sunderland target Nazariy Rusyn has confirmed he has begun the process to obtain a visa to work in the UK, speaking to Sportua News.
The 24-year-old forward had been left out of the Zorya squad for their upcoming fixtures as news regarding a move to the Black Cats broke. The manager suggested that this was due to a “minor knock” but with speculation around the player gaining momentum many drew conclusions that a move was imminent. Now Rusyn has spoken directly to Sportua News confirming that he has begun the UK’s Visa process to enter the country and work.
On August 29, I have to submit the necessary documents to obtain a visa. I hope that soon all the formalities will be completed and it will be possible to go to the UK.”
The Ukrainian enjoyed an impressive campaign last year with Zorya in the Premier Liga of his home nation scoring 13 goals in 30 appearances for the club. He has also been on the books of Dynamo Kyiv, Chornomorets, Legia Warszawa and more. He has won titles in the Ukraine and Poland as well as winning the cup in the nation of his birth.
Sunderland have been linked heavily with attacking options, there is speculation over a move for Jesrun Rak-Sakyi from Crystal Palace that would fill some of the gap left by Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo. Tony Mowbray is also understood to remain under pressure as his side sit 18th in the table after four games, with just one league victory against Rotherham United this season.

This move is a case of when rather than if now. The visa rules have been relaxed around football and it should get done in time for the deadline. Sunderland will have picked up a talented attacked who will be eager to prove himself in English football having spent his entire playing career to date on the continent.
