Leicester City are ready to accept a £15,000,000 bid for star forward Kelechi Iheanacho in the final days of the transfer window, according to Pete O’Rouke of Football Insider.
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in the player as Friday’s deadline fast approaches. According to O’Rouke, the Championship club are prepared to sell the forward as long as bids meet their £15 million figure. The player could also run down his contract which only has a year remaining and leave on a free transfer in 2024, should a deal not materialise this summer. Should either of the Premier League sides present an acceptable financial offer, then the player would be prepared to leave the King Power stadium. The player has scored one goal and provided two assists this season, following on from a difficult campaign where he only scored eight times in 35 appearances. However, in the 2020/21 season he scored 19 goals as the Foxes lifted the FA Cup a few years on from their famous Premier League win. He joined the club for a reported £25,000,000 in 2017 from Manchester City.
Leicester are looking to continue improving their squad after losing star players such as James Maddison and Harvey Barnes following their relegation to the second tier. Enzo Maresca’s side have got off to the perfect start winning all four of their opening league fixtures and progressing EFL Cup against League One strugglers Burton Albion. They face League Two opposition in a mid-week EFL Cup fixture before welcoming Hull City on Saturday.

The player has struggled over the past couple of years but still has maintained his spot in the starting lineup especially with Jamie Vardy no longer able to contribute as heavily as he did. He has contributed to all the club’s Championship games and Maresca clearly feels he can be replaced between now and Friday. The player clearly wants to depart with threats of running down his contract, so it is good for all parties to solve the situation sooner rather than later.
