Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of signing Niclas Füllkrug, with the striker set to sign a three year contract with the club.
Niclas Füllkrug is on his way to Borussia Dortmund, with multiple reports claiming that the move is on the verge of completion. The Germany international has reached an agreement on a three year contract with the Black and Yellows, and will earn an annual salary of around six million euros.
The decision to sign Füllkrug comes as Borussia Dortmund were looking to bolster their attacking ranks. Sebastien Haller will be forced to miss some games in January as he will be away on international duty with the Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Niclas Füllkrug was the joint-top scorer in the Bundesliga last season, and helped Werder Bremen avoid relegation. The 30 year old scored 16 goals in 28 appearances and also forced his way into the Germany squad.
Fulham and Eintracht Frankfurt were also linked with a move for Füllkrug, but now he is on his way to Borussia Dortmund.
Füllkrug will compete with Sebastien Haller and Youssoufa Moukoko for a starting spot up front at Borussia Dortmund. It will be interesting to see if the towering striker’s arrival leads to a change in Edin Terzic’s tactical plans for this season.
