Nottingham Forest have made a late offer to sign PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare. The Reds are desperate to do some more business before the transfer window closes tomorrow and are very keen on the Ivorian.

According to reports, the offer is now in the region of £30 million which is very close to the player’s £32 million release clause. However, things are complicated after PSV thrashed Rangers last night to qualify for the Champions League.

Sangare has been the number one defensive midfielder target for Forest all summer. Roger Schmidt previously called him ‘unstoppable’ and he showed his class as PSV beat Forest 1-0 during their pre-season campaign.

The 25-year-old arrived at the Eindhoven-based outfit in 2020. He joined from Toulouse and has become one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe during his time in Eredivisie and is certainly one of the most sought-after.

Forest might be leaving this one late. The report also states that despite this latest attempt from Forest to land him, Sangare still isn’t overly sure whether or not he’s even keen to come to the Premier League this summer.

The player now has Champions League football to look forward to on the menu if he stays with PSV. With that in mind, he might just choose to ride it out and either leave in January when PSV will have likely been knocked out, or next summer.

Forest make another bid for Sangare

It feels as though Evangelos Marinakis is very keen to make this deal happen. Sangare, however, might have other ideas and it does feel as though the club needed to tempt the Ivorian star before now

Still, Forest are making progress on a number of deals. It looks as though the squad will be in a good place when the transfer window closes and the club are making a few final pushes to get deals done.

This move for Sangare looks unlikely to take place though. There is a sense now that he will stay to help PSV in the Champions League, although it certainly hasn’t stopped Forest from chancing their arm once more.
