Derby County’s latest transfer window shuts today, but anyone anticipating a flurry of movement prior to 11 p.m. may be let down.

With 10 players added to the team throughout the course of the summer, the acquisitions of Tyrese Fornah and Tyreece John-Jules essentially sealed the deal on the majority of the club’s business.

Richie Barker, the assistant head coach, stated yesterday that he does not anticipate many changes until the game is over, although he has not ruled out the possibility of one final addition.

As previously reported, head coach Paul Warne would ideally like a midfielder who can play wing-back, a position that has now become a priority ahead of the 11pm deadline.

The head coach of Derby believed he had secured a player from the second tier who would have been a perfect fit, but just as the transaction was about to be finalized, a Championship club went ahead and gashed him.

That highlights the difficulties managers encounter due to the erratic nature of the transfer market, which is why Derby is looking for a last-minute deal

Kane Wilson and Joe Ward are both expected to be sidelined for some time, leaving Derby without any natural right wingbacks, though Jake Rooney has performed brilliantly in the last two games.

A perfect situation would be to find a player who could play on the right side of Warne’s favored system and contribute dynamism to the center of the pitch.

In the past 24 hours, Derby has been connected to Will Vaulks, a midfielder for Sheffield Wednesday who can also play full-back. It’s the kind of trade that, assuming the player is available, would make sense. The guy previously played for Warne at Rotherham.

However, Warne has already stated that he might be persuaded to join the free

As Derby nears deadline day, the only other topic of concern is the circumstance surrounding Eiran Cashin. Brighton is still interested in the young center-back, but no agreement has been reached.

The two teams are still in discussions about the 21-year-old’s potential transfer to the Premier League team, but only if their valuation, which is thought to be in the neighborhood of £3 million, is fulfilled.

It would be wise for Warne to bank a seven-figure sum, some of which he could put back into the team. However, things would need to move really swiftly at this point
