Edmond Tapsoba, a defender for Bayer Leverkusen, is about to sign a new deal after being rejected by Tottenham Hotspur.

On social media, journalist Fabrizio Romano provided additional information about the destiny of the Burkina Faso international.

Tottenham made several excellent moves during the summer transfer window, and they are already seeing the results.

New additions James Maddison and Micky Van de Ven have significantly impacted the way they play under Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou, however, wished there had been more cover in one position.

It was at the position of center-back that Postecoglou acknowledged he still wanted to add a player after their exhibition match against Barcelona.

Van de Ven performed admirably despite being placed right into the starting lineup.

Youngster Ashley Phillips was also included, and yesterday the team traveled to Burnley.

Edmond Tapsoba was also a target for Tottenham, but it now appears that he will extend his deal with Leverkusen.

As he stays longer in the Bundesliga, his initial £45 million asking price is probably going to increase.

Tapsoba, a target for Tottenham, will sign a new deal.

“EXCLUSIVE: Edmond Tapsoba, set to sign new long term contract at Bayer Leverkusen,” Romano said in a post on X.

The agreement is valid through June 2028, according to club sources.

“Tapsoba was on the list of Tottenham and also Man United; he is prepared to sign a new contract.

Big news for Xabi Alonso and Bayer 04!”

Postecoglou will now need to look at other targets in January if he still wants to make additions, as Tapsoba would have been a fantastic addition for Tottenham given the contract news.

It indicates that Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier, who were both eligible for moves during the summer, are his current backups.

The Colombian player struggled against Fulham in the Carabao Cup match after coming on against Brentford.

One of the players who Spurs truly wanted to offload in the final hours of the transfer window was Eric Dier, who hasn’t played a single game this year.

The fact that Phillips was left out of the team for Saturday’s game is not encouraging for his long-term future at Tottenham.

Next July, when his contract expires, it now seems as though he’ll stay for the next 12 months before leaving.
